The case of FUNCTIONALITY vs. CAPABILITY
Computers have the capacity to store and process data. The data stored in computers can be transmitted to a multitude of users in different locations. However, no computer can do this until it is ‘networked’. When this happens, the computer then has the functionality and the capability to transmit to a multitude of users in different locations.
1. Is this true or not? Back up your answer with at least two major points.
2. What do you understand by the concept of networking?
2. What do you understand by the concept of networking?
Yes, this true. The internet and the connection that computers have to the internet have nade this possible. Some other computers can be networked locally using cables/hubs.
ReplyDeleteNetworking can mean a band of people with common interests and or a collection of systems that work together for a common objective.
Ok. Lets say we 'couple' up a few computers. Then what? What sort of benefits can those who are linked to the computers derive? Also, any idea on how the linked computers can be protected from hackers and 'evil doers?
ReplyDeleteThose computers connected together will we able to share information amongs themselves meaning each user will have an access of information within the network created. This computers can be protected by firewall and antivirus from hackers.
ReplyDeleteYes, this statement is correct. In order for computers to share data between one another, they need to have the correct means be linked and this can be done through a common server or via the internet.
ReplyDeleteNetworking is the connection of various computers through a common source from which they are capable of communication.

ReplyDeletel strongly agree with the statement int he sense that the data stored in a computer need to be connected to a network for it to be accessed by various users across the globe.
ReplyDeleteIn addition, networking has facilitated the use of the internet and intranet. the former has enabled the organisation to liase with the external world and the latter has enabled the sharing of data internally
l think networking is about connectivity, in the sense that it connects you with people locally and globally.facebook is an example as it enables users to connect with their family and loved ones that are living a distance

ReplyDeleteInternet is a huge market and anybody has the potential to earn huge income by selling something over the internet. However, a customer might not get all the information he/she want about the product or service. According to Thobekani Lose doing online business is not difficult, the first thing to do is to come up with a business plan before you can even thinking of starting online business. Thobekani Lose personally doesn’t trust online shopping aaa.
ReplyDeletevery strong comments Mr Lose. I agree with you though that before venturing into virtual space, you need to be sure of the why's and the what's. Why do you want to get into it and what do you need to make it successful? And to achieve this, a business plan could do the trick.
ReplyDeleteyes it true the network has brought some connection to all the computers, now you can have access to the internet and having a business through internet is like a good strategy because we are living in the technology world whereby people turn to use internet, rather brick and mortor.
ReplyDeleteyes it is true. this is so because for a computer to be tamed as networked, it first has to be interconnected with the computers through communication channels. the capability(the ability to do something) arises where the computer is functional(purpose that something is designed or expected to fulfill- ). through networking, its fulfills its purpose of sharing of resources and information and enables it to fufill its capability of data transmission to a multitude of users
ReplyDeleteNetworking facilitates the interaction between computers to allow for sharing and exchange of information and resources
