Showing entrepreneurial research talent
On Saturday, the 25th October2014, CPUT Faculty
of Business and Management Science BTech conference 2014 took place at the Cape
Town campus in the lecture theatres 1 and 2
Btech students in Entrepreneurship and Business Management Atiyyah Karlie, Timothy Vaughan and Zimasa Benge came dressed like business executives and addressed the audience with enthusiasm and clarity, about their research project “Assessing The Effectiveness Of Funding Monitoring Process For Start-Ups In The Textile Industry: A Case Of Funding Institutions In Cape Town”. Timothy introduced Zimasa and Attiyah, Zimasa did the main presentation and the 3 musketeers met the questioning of the panel brilliantly enough to get away with a special commendation prize for a group presentation.
The participation at this year 2014 event was great and left
everyone imagining how it will be next year. In all cases, BTech students in
the faculty of Business and Management Science showed case of their research
talent. They will be expected at Masters level next year2015 while new faces
will be joining in the growing crowd of research converted BTech mates.
The event was organised by: Prof Charles Allen-Ile, Mr Laban
Bagui, Ms Vimbayi Mafunda, Luminous events (some events management students)
and Ms Esti Venske
The adjudicators for the main event were Dr Obikeze
Kenechukwu (UWC), Dr Carly Steyn (Consultant) and Dr Simphiwe Nelana (Faculty
of Applied Science); and for the Marketing department posters Mr Myles Wakeham
and Mr Zandile Mxaku
In the main event, 7 departments presented students in
competition for the best researched and presented project. These departments
were:
- - OMT
(Group)
- - Accounting (group)
- - Public Management (Group)
- - Entrepreneurship (Group)
- - Tourism (Group)
- - Retail Business Management (individual)
- - Sport Management (Individual)
The event was attended by the Faculty of Faculty of Business
and Management Science Dean of Research Prof Charles Allen-Ile, the retail
management research chair Prof Roger Mason and various head of departments,
lecturers and the supervisors of all the students presenting.
The department of Entrepreneurship and Business Management
came in quality with a number of 2nd year students who came to support their
elders, some Btech classmates and friends of presenters in cheering support,
the head of department Dr Iwu C. and the supervising duo Mr Dumisani Xesha and
Mr Laban Bagui.
