2022 EMERGING RESEARCHER CONFERENCE

The Faculty of Business and Management Sciences hosted the annual Emerging Researcher Conference on Saturday, 5 November 2022. The theme of this years conference was Driving smart, innovative and responsive research for sustainable economic development. The Department of Entrepreneurship and Business Management under the supervision of Mr Emmanuel Esambe was represented by Nday Yves Wa Numbi registered for the Advanced Diploma in Entrepreneurship as well as Xatyiswa Salukazana registered for the Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship Management. Nday Yves Wa Numbi Xatyiswa Salukazana Nday presented on "The entrepreneurial needs of people living wit physical disabilities in Cape Town" and Xatyiswa presented on "Challenges faced by South African owned small businesses in a selected township in the Western Cape".  The Department is proud to share that Nday achieved 2nd place for Advanced Diploma level individual proposal and Xatyiswa achieved 1st place for Postgradua

Another interview with one of our ‘brag’ points – Dr Thobekani Lose

We were lucky to corner Dr Thobekani ‘Thobs’ Lose for a quick interview. Interestingly, he didn’t aim at Entrepreneurship because he thought it was a ‘cheap’ course.  Today, Dr Lose heads the SEDA’s Rapid Incubator at the Walter Sisulu University in Eastern Cape, South Africa. My takeaway from the interview is this quote of his: “crisis is the incubator for creativity’.  How apt can this be for a time like this when everyone is scampering for safety owing to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19?
