Head of Projects, City of Cape Town, agrees to consider 'shadow' spots for our BTech's

Image
Just got off a meeting with David Leendertz, the City of Cape Town's head of projects. The former chairperson of BMF told me today that he'd consider my proposal to provide opportunities for our BTech students to use his office for practical project management exposure from 2011. The details will be worked out between his office and myself. Mr D (that's what I call him) sat with me for over an hour going through a number of subjects. We spoke about the need to accelerate learning for the young folks and also the need for corporate governance in both the private and public institutions. The department looks forward to this relationship with Mr D's office. Thank you Mr D!

2010 comes to an end

Hi, It’s another year end. 2010 is just about to wrap up. At the beginning of this year, many of us must have drawn up a long list of plans. As it is common with each new year,   expectations are high and on the basis of those expectations, we denounce old habits and then imbibe new ones. These old habits, often times, are seen as deterrents. Then the new year kicks off and we start to push for our plans to be realised. These are normally called new year resolutions. As sad as this may sound, 80% of us end up not sticking to those resolutions. Those who do, find out bitterly in the middle of the year that kicking those habits did not really help. In fact many of us end up not even achieving the goals we set for ourselves. Let me inform you: it may not have been your fault. So do not beat yourself to death. For lack of trying I would say go ahead and beat yourself up. But if you tried to pursue your goals and did not succeed, tell yourself, ANOTHER YEAR WILL SOON BE HERE AGAIN! This a

Mr Damian Ohajunwa Cindy Mr Damian Ohajunwa, an advisory board member of our dear department has provided a holiday job opportunity to one of our ambassadors. Cindy will be assisting Mr Ohajunwa at one of his Cash Crusaders' outlets. "My intention is to provide some support for the students because I know life can be rough for a fresh graduate who leaves school and finds himself without a clue as to what to do next. This project that I have embarked upon will help to settle some of these guys and provide some form of direction to them' said Mr Ohajunwa. The department is grateful for this and to Cindy, we say congratulations, remain an ambassador of the department.

Our ND Students bid us goodbye in style!

One guest said 'this reminds me of a musical event I attended in Joburg. This is so well organised'. And that's the truth. The night was simply wao! The duo of Cindy and Chuma presented the show in the same manner you'd see notable MC's rock famous parties. They were awesome. And the rest of the students - beautifully laid out. As you return to your folks, we wish you all the best and hope the time you spent at CPUT and the department was rewarding. Do take great care. And see 'you' at the BTech class of 2011. Stick to this blog as we will be presenting batches of pictures of the event starting tomorrow. We do not want to let the cat out of the bag.
