And finally the ambassadors speak out!

Dumi

Avril
Dumi and Avril, our latest ambassadors at the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, felt so good talking about their experiences so far on a range of subjects. Interesting to note that their alarm clocks are now set for 5.30am! Previously, they'd sleep until about 8am before tidying up for lectures. Avril recalls 'the day before I commenced work,I had difficulty sleeping. The joy that overwhelmed me must have been the reason for the inability to sleep'. Dumi adds 'I even lost track of the floor that I was supposed to get off. I was in the lift at my place of work until it reached the 8th floor. Eish, it felt so good!' Avril and Dumi confessed that their impression of government work had changed completely. Before they joined civil service, they thought that working for government meant not doing so much and having too much time to do all sorts of irrelevant things. 'things are different there in our department. We get busy from the time we clock in until we sign off.'

When asked if they'd suggest ND Entrepreneurship to any prospective student, they answered in the affirmative. To buttress their point, they said any applicant to the department MUST have some qualification in entrepreneurship and business management. 'This goes to show that the department of Entrepreneurship and Business Management is doing something right which the government department appreciates', they both said. Currently these two bright students of ours are feeling the beat of this progressive department as they are rotated through the many tasks in the department. Asked if there is any particular lesson that stands out for them in prosecuting their current tasks, they both agreed that a sense of emotional intelligence was important in dealing with sometimes irate and very diasgreeable clients.

We should be very proud of Dumi and Avril not only because of their new jobs, but also because they beat hands down students from other universities to clinch the jobs!
