Ms Chakacha shares her experience at the S.A Teen Entrepreneur Fair

The S.A Teen entrepreneur initiative is an ongoing plan to nurture an entrepreneurial culture among the young. The programme is termed “teen” in reference to teenagers yet to matriculate, matriculants and the young at heart. Particular attention is given to the former group.
The launch of the programme was on the 31st August 2011. The occasion was graced by the initiative’s founder Mrs Lydia Zingoni., government and private sector representatives and individuals with interests in entrepreneurship. The highlight of the launch party was the presence of guest speakers Rael Levitt and Sabirul Islam.
The launch was one of the much needed motivational and inspirational platforms that enlighten communities about the whole business of entrepreneurship. It was even more important for aspiring entrepreneurs as it presented solid instances and testimony from established entrepreneurs. Our own department of entrepreneurship was well represented by a delegation headed by Mr Chux Gervase Iwu.
Five fundamental elements of entrepreneurial prowess were explored. These are honesty and integrity, hard work, tenacity, passion and relentless thirst for constant self-improvement and development. All these were woven together into a conclusion that the only force by which an individual can add value to his or her own life is by adding the elements to personal strengths to come up with an in-built zeal to succeed.
The last note of the launch was that entrepreneurial success comes from what can be termed the 3Ps. These are:
·         Positivity which drives one forward
·         Perseverance that comes by facing weaknesses and looking failure in the eye
·         Passion for changing ideas from dreams to realities.
For all these elements to come to fruition it was asserted that full potential for anyone can be realised by associating with likeminded people. The presence of people with the same mindset in one’s life can result in teamwork towards fulfilling goals and ambitions.
