STEVE JOBS (1955 – 2011)

Steve Jobs
A pioneer, innovator, entrepreneur and the mastermind behind Apple's iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and iTunes (http://news.yahoo.com) has bid farewell to the world.  Barely 2 months after delivering the news that sent shockwaves around the world, (announcing that he was stepping down as Apple’s CEO), even sadder news of his passing hit the globe.
Mr. Jobs was born in 1955 and went on to co-found the Apple Computer in 1976 with his childhood friend Steve Wozniak (http://news.yahoo.com). According to http://news.yahoo.com this brilliant, passionate and energetic entrepreneur became a multimillionaire at the age of 25 and went on to appear on the cover of Time magazine at 26. Although adored by many, Mr. Jobs had an egotistic as well as a rebellious personality that would often get him into trouble.  His rebellious nature saw him leave Apple in 1985 (http://www.news24.com/) and later returned in 1996. During his time out of Apple Mr. Jobs founded NeXT computers and bought the computer graphics arm of Lucasfilm, Ltd., which was later known as Pixar Animation Studios.
His life was not all that well-off as he was played down by illness and in 2004, he revealed that he had a rare form of pancreatic cancer (http://www.reuters.com) and in 2009, it was announced that he had gone for a liver transplant (http://news.yahoo.com.) Extraordinarily, this man continued as Apple’s CEO until August 2011 when he announced that Tim Cook would succeed him as CEO.
Some greats such as Mike Bloomberg as well as John Boehner have compared him to the likes of Einstein and Edison while others such as Barak Obama thanked him for the work he had done.  A man that was mostly spotted wearing a “Black Croix sweater, blue Levi’s 501 jeans, and New Balance running shoes” (Gallo, 2010, 195) to the office appeared ordinary to the naked eye. However, this great individual possessed unique entrepreneurial traits that distinguished him from the rest. This is a true legend and a fine example that young entrepreneurs can emulate in setting their goals as well as going about finding the ways and means to achieve them.
The MAN is gone but will never be FORGOTTEN, least of all not by entrepreneurs such as OURSELVES!
RIP Mr. Jobs
